It is common to see a crane being used in job sites all across the world, as these large pieces of equipment are essential when lifting heavier construction materials into place. The fact that the cranes are mobile and can be hired as needed is a major plus, as they can come and go to different construction jobs in Noosa, Tewantin, Eumundi, Noosaville and anywhere else that they are needed. Cranes also come in all kinds of different shapes and sizes, and can be used for projects big, small, and a little complicated. That latter description is one that suits a job that a crane was used to perform over in Noosa Sunshine Coast.
The job in question required the use of a crane to essentially add a whole new level onto a pre-existing flat. The couple who lived in the space were growing a little tired of their cramped living condition, but found themselves unable to make any renovations that didn’t involve knocking down their neighbours walls, which would have also meant purchasing the adjoining flat. Instead of building out the way, they decided to build up, and in order to do so they needed to hire a crane for the job.
Since the flat was on the top floor of the building, the couple believed it was possible to add on to their existing space, but they didn’t really want to have construction guys on site for months, creating levels of noise and dust that would not sit well with the people living in the rather swanky part of Noosa. Instead, they chose to have a company pre-build the second level of their home, which was then transported from Brisbane and hoisted into place using a massive crane.
The project was initially expected to run for months, but by going this route the whole thing took just 6 weeks. The first step was to have the scaffolding put in place, after which the existing roof was removed to make way for the pre-fabricated second level. The new level came in four different modules, all of which were lifted into place using the aforementioned crane. The road had to be closed off for a little while in order to let the crane get the job done, but the aggravation to the neighbours was greatly lessened by doing this particular style of addition.
The good news for the couple getting the work done is that they turned a cramped little space into a rather glorious penthouse suite. By all accounts, the value of their property is now hovering around the 3 million dollar mark, which is a serious upgrade on what it was before the project began. We are not entirely sure as to what all of this cost the couple, but we can bet that the crane hire was probably one of the least expensive parts of it. It’s also a project that could never have been completed without the use of said mobile crane.
